"Building Tomorrow's Leaders through Sports"

12/13 yr. 11-0 White Eagles WIN the Lanier Bowl

Dear AYFA Families:

As we approach the end of another spectacular year of success for AYFA, I want to that all of you for the support and sacrifices each of you have contributed to our boys and girls performance on and off the field of play. The 2009 season ended with your AYFA Eagles winning 7 of the 8 Championship Games in which we appeared, and Runner-ups in another 3 of the Championship Games.

The end of this season marks two significant milestones. The first is the departure of 8 Board members who have combined service of more than 40 years to the families of AYFA. The contributions of these exceptional volunteers have made AYFA the standard for comparison among other youth sports organizations. As we applaud and honor the efforts of our departing leaders, it is very exciting to see the new energy, talent and excitement that the next era of leadership is bringing to AYFA as we head into the future. Having worked beside the board members remaining at the end of this season, I can tell you with without exception that with their passion, objectivity and dedication to the continuing success of AYFA the future is in very capable hands.

The 2010 Season marks the 35th Anniversary of AYFA, and there will be many exciting events and a few surprises to honor this incredible milestone.

We also experienced a tremendous begining for the innaugural NAFL (North Atlanta Football League) season in 2009. Founded by AYFA and Roswell, our new league has already distinguished itself for sportsmanship and excellence on the field. We were very happy to have teams from Forsyth County (Midway, Sharon Springs, Sawnee and Bennett Park) join in crossover competition, and hope to expand this competition into a long term association.

Coming up on December 5th is our 5th Annual ALL-STAR Bowl to benefit the North Metro Miracle League. This years event has expanded to 26 teams from, AYFA, Forsyth County and NYO Chastain. The event has become so popular that we will need 3 fields this year... North Park 1 and 2 along with Alpharetta High School... BE SURE TO COME OUT AND SUPPORT ALL OF THE TEAMS AS THEY PLAY TO SUPPORT THE CHILDREN OF THE MIRACLE LEAGUE.

In closing, the end of this season marks my 12th year or participation at AYFA. The memories are countless, the friendships are for a lifetime and the experience is a precious treasure to me and my family. I end my tenure with feeling of joy and excitement both for the past accomplishments and future continued greatness of our beloved AYFA. I thank each and every one of you for your contributions to the success of the hands down best youth sports organization in the Atlanta Metro.

Sincerely,
Steve Mills
President
